Nail Biting And The Nasty Truth

When I was a kid, I can remember my little brother chewing on his nails like they were a nice sweet ear of corn on the cob.  Nail biting is a very hard habit to break!

We all know that the results of nail biting isn't pretty.  The above picture is just one example of what it does to you hands. The nasty truth is... what the nail biter is eating!  Fungus lives under the nails,  bacteria lives under the nails, yeast lives and breeds under the nails too!  That isn't all! Nail biters are much more likely to report problems such as vomiting and diarrhea from E-Coli under the nails.  So now that you are thoroughly disgusted let me give you a little good news!

French Tips, Short Medium Long, How To Size

Hello Friends!
I haven't been here lately because on April the 9th I had knee replacement surgery.  Wowser!  This is a journey for sure.  I have physical therapy coming in and slowly I am improving day by day!

What I would like to talk about today is French Tips!  If you love the look,  but have never tried them, I want you to know how to choose them.  Just because you have small nails, or short nails... it doesn't mean that you need "short French Tips"!

Take a look at the pictures to the left side of the page.  Notice the difference between the Natural Nail picture and the Short Tip.  The short size is ALL about having the tip come down low on your nails.  It is NOT about having short nails, it is about your preferences on the tip location.

Most people wear a medium tip, but my "TIP" for you is that if you purchase the LONG French Tip you will have more natural nail to work with.  You can always cut off the cuticle end and trim!  It is better to have extra to trim than not enough and be disappointed that your tip is lower than you prefer.

If you do purchase the long tips, you can use the tape method to size your nails and get your perfect fit! I have this video on another Blog Page but hey those of you that are in a hurry, I feel ya!



To get a better idea on how low the tip would be on your finger take a look at this diagram using a dime.

By looking where the short tip hits the dime.. now take that dime and compare that location to your finger tips.  Put the dime right at the cuticle.  How awesome is this?

No more guessing at French Tips!

Did you know that all French tips are not white at the end?  Some even have patterns.  Take a look at these options from Jamberry.

I really love the French Tip Bows on this chart.  The Gone Dancing is simply gorgeous in person!  I would have never characterized this wrap as a French Tip before, but girl I don't care what they call it, the BLING is for me!!

You're Doing What To That Egg?

You are doing WHAT to that egg?  Are you freaking serious?   I was doing some random reading today and noticed more than one "do it yourself" tips on coloring Easter Eggs.   

What caught my eye was the tips on how to use fingernail polish to tie dye your eggs, Pinterest style.  I know you have seen those tutorials where you can tie dye your nails by putting polish in water and dipping your finger in.... but eggs?  Watch this:




Before you ooh and ahhh, just let me say this.  Please make sure you know the ingredients of your polish!  

DBP:  Known to cause lifelong reproductive impairments in rats.  
Toluene: Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood count , liver and kidney damage and may affect developing fetus
Formaldehyde: A known carcinogen linked to leukemia

So please, please do NOT dye your eggs with nail polish.

Wrap It, Wrap It Real Good!

There are so many awesome techniques in applying Jamberry Nails.  I am going to put a few of those on here today.  

The first time I put mine on I was so scared.  I am a scaredy cat! lol   It wasn't perfect, but they did stay on! I also discovered that my nails weren't the same!  They were different shapes, some of my nail beds were square and some were nice and curved... Ugh!  No worries!  Here is an awesome way to get custom fit nails easy.





I have different techniques I use depending on what wrap I am going to wear!   If my wraps are sparkly or if the backing is silver, I prefer to use the cold application method.




I'm not sure why this works better on the silver backed Jams, I'm thinking it works better to be heat activated on the nail for some reason.

If my Jams do NOT have a silver backing, I like to heat my Jam up first:




Last but not least, I want to show you how super easy it is to apply these wraps to little fingers!

Jammin' and Why?

Hello!  My name is Tina Shake and I hope you are up to a journey with me.  I'm on a journey with Jamberry Nails.

Someone asked me why I chose Jamberry Nails.  It was very simple and it also is very complicated!
